If you are missing one or more consecutive teeth, Dr. J.D. Murray and Dr. William Alexander can restore your smile with a customized dental bridge at Pampered Smiles in East Point, GA. Our dentists offer both traditional dental bridges that attach to adjacent teeth and implant-supported bridges that provide a wealth of unique benefits.
Dental Bridges for Different Needs
When you come into our office for an initial consultation with Dr. Murray or Dr. Alexander, your dentist will examine your teeth and gums before designing your treatment plan. At Pampered Smiles, we use the latest technology for accurate analysis and treatment planning, including computerized tomography (CT) scanners for precise diagnoses.
Patients should note that before any restorative treatment, your doctor will first confirm that you are free of any dental decay, periodontal disease, or other underlying oral health concerns.
During this evaluation, your dentist determines whether you would benefit most from traditional or implant-retained bridges, taking into account your health needs, lifestyle, personal preference, and budget. Patients should note that before any restorative treatment, your doctor will first confirm that you are free of any dental decay, periodontal disease, or other underlying oral health concerns.
Traditional Dental Bridges
If you are undergoing a traditional dental bridge treatment, the process generally requires two office visits. During the first visit, the adjacent teeth are prepared to support a dental bridge, and precise impressions are taken to send to our trusted laboratory that custom-crafts your restoration using lifelike, tooth-colored materials. Your dentist will place a temporary bridge in the interim.
After the bridge is ready, you will return to our office for the final fitting. Your dentist will place your bridge securely and check to ensure a comfortable fit and bite. Finally, the dental bridge is cemented into place.
Traditional bridges attach to adjacent teeth. Implant bridges are anchored directly to the jaw bone.
Implant-supported Dental Bridges
The dentists at Pampered Smiles perform dental implant placement and restoration using dental bridges for qualifying candidates. Dr. Murray was one of the first dentists in Georgia to become a diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and along with Dr. Alexander, offers lifelike implant-supported bridges to complete your smile. Implants are a direct replacement for lost tooth roots. They anchor the restoration directly to the jaw.
There are multiple steps in placing a dental implant-retained bridge. After a thorough evaluation to assess jaw bone health, patients undergo the surgical placement of dental implants. After the surgery, the implant posts fuse with the bone tissue over a period of four to six months, after which patients come in for placement of a dental bridge.
There are several benefits of implant-supported bridges when compared to the traditional alternative. Apart from providing excellent support, implants offer the unique benefit of preventing the loss of jawbone tissue that occurs naturally after tooth loss.
